My Life As A Former Pro Wrestler wrestle maniac posts Part 1 Old School Pro Wrestling training is essential for a strong wrestling foundation.

wrestle maniac posts Most people look at me and have no Idea who I am have no idea what I have accomplished in my life a lot of people see just see the guy who use to work in fast food and drawing webcomics an doing Dragon Ball Z What if videos on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-iINk_gobgfcH_5rLCl43A , However there is quite a lot more to me than just simply that but that’s okay I don’t advertise it as much as I probably should the truth is I’ve actually accomplished everything I’ve set out to do including my time in the indie pro wrestling circuit here in Brisbane Australia. Like I said I don’t brag about this too often looking back now the amazing memories the friends I had made.

Being trained by IPW founder and legend Peter The Hawk Ball. In a way he was the father of Pro Wrestling in Australia there weren’t many pro wrestling organisations before he came along from New Zealand. To this day I haven’t forgotten the lessons he taught me and how he drilled old school pro wrestling into my head. Why his training methods were different compared to modern pro wrestling they teach around the world and eventually even here. Pete always wanted his students to have the strongest wrestling foundation possible. From learning basic Bumps to the first wrestling hold first spot etc. When Pete trained you  you knew your eyes were about to be opened to how little they know. He was especially talented at teaching us to feel what the other wrestler was doing how to go with it and work on the fly building a match without choreographi. Ryan sunset pin  an opponent without the flip his biggest priorities were safety and teaching us to look strong out there and have control

His point was there was always somewhere you could go and you had to feel it feel it onside your self as a wrestler. you didn’t need to choreograph Which brings me to why I’ve made this post. The way I was originally trained by an old pro is something most modern-day pro wrestling organizations are missing today I find most pro wrestling organizations don’t teach the basic fundamentals anymore no one is learning the old school moves that worked and it is quite frankly destroying the wrestling sport and is responsible for most modern day pro wrestling injuries let me give you an example.

I asked a modern pro wrestler if they knew the original purpose for the sunset flip.

And They’d answer oh it’s a flip move where you flip over guy grab the thighs and pin an opponent and that’s like oh my god!!

To quote Luke Skywalker everything they just said is wrong. Nope the original sunset flip was invented as a reversal for the back body drop which is why when Wrestlers use to do sunset flips your opponent lifted and assisted you with the sunset flip with the back body drop.

These days your opponent doesn’t assist you. You’re expected to flip over them grab the back of the thigh or lower waste roll them up and pin them down. They don’t even teach the original version of the sunset flip first before teaching them the modern method and that’s why we get so many injuries no one has a strong pro wrestling foundation. Thank you for listening and hearing me out I’ll be back with more
